Programme to create employment launched at Bawdie.

Bawdie (W/R), March 27, GNA - Madam Doris Gyapomaah Oduro, District Chief Executive for Wassa- Amenfi East, has reaffirmed the government's determination to adopt pragmatic programmes that would help to create jobs to check unemployment among the youth.

She urged the people to take advantage of a number of facilities introduced to promote and enhance private sector participation in the economy to achieve wealth creation and steady development. Madam Oduro said this when she launched the District Employment and Job Creation Programme (DEJCP) at Bawdie near Wassa-Akropong on Friday. It is in collaboration with the stakeholders including the Ministry of Employment and Manpower Development.

She said under the programme, employment would be created for more than 18,000 people mainly in agriculture, health and sanitation and tourism sectors by the end of the year. Mr Emmanuel Armah, the District Youth Employment Coordinator, said 739 unemployment youth have already registered to participate in the programme.

He said the District Employment Taskforce was coordinating its operations with stakeholders to ensure that the programme is successful.
