Professor Daniel Ankrah of the Department of Agricultural Extension at the University of Ghana has been elected President of the Benkum Old Students Association (BOSA).

He has pledged to unite members and strengthen the association’s support for Benkum Senior High School.

Prof Ankrah will lead a new team of executives made up of Frederick Safo Appiah as Vice President, Victoria Cornelia Quaynor as Secretary, Ernestina Oye Fianko as Treasurer, Gideon Gyamfi Appawu as Financial Secretary, George Offei senior as Organizer, and Francis Owusu Hansen as Public Relations Officer. The executives will serve a four-year term.

In his acceptance speech after the election on March 14, 2026, Prof Ankrah thanked members for the confidence reposed in him. He described the result as a collective victory for the BOSA family and said members had shown their commitment to building a stronger and more united association.

He commended the other contestants for their maturity and invited them to support the new administration in moving the association forward.

Prof Ankrah said his administration would focus on peace, unity, and development.

He announced plans to set up a Peace and Reconciliation Committee to address disagreements among members, establish a one-million-cedi endowment fund, and pursue the construction of a multipurpose alumni complex with a 1,000-seat conference facility to generate income for the association.

He also spoke about plans to build the capacity of members through mentorship programmes and training in emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence.

He pledged to promote welfare schemes at the year-group level and support initiatives to improve academic standards at Benkum Senior High School.

Prof Ankrah further proposed the introduction of an annual speech and prize-giving day at the school and initiatives to attract graduates from tertiary institutions to undertake national service at Benkum SHS to support teaching and learning.

He thanked past leaders, supporters, and members of the association for their encouragement during the campaign and called on all members to work together in unity for the progress of the association and their alma mater.

“The best days of BOSA are not behind us; they are ahead of us if we work together,” he said.
