Prestea MP supports BECE candidates with 4,464 mathematical sets

The Member of Parliament for Prestea Huni-Valley in the Western Region, Lawyer Barbara Oteng-Gyasi has presented 4,464 mathematical sets to Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the area.

A total of 4,369 candidates from public and private schools, will take part in this year’s examination and this donation is the third time by the MP.

The donation is to motivate these candidates to perform well in the examination.

Making the presentation at the Saint Mathew Anglican Basic School at Huni-Valley Monday, June 3, 2019, Lawyer Oteng-Gyasi who doubles as the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, cautioned the candidates to avoid any examination malpractices to prevent cancellation of their examination since their future depends on it.

She, therefore encouraged the candidates to work hard and make the Municipality proud.

She revealed that the annual presentation of the mathematical sets symbolises a collective target of the Assembly and her Office to seek quality education in the area.

The Minister reaffirmed Government's commitment to improving education in the country hence the introduction of the Free Senior High school (SHS) programme to make secondary education affordable by bridging the gap between the rich and poor and also to absorb the increasing number of students graduating.

She charged them to pass their exams in other to benefit from the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.

She urged them to build confidence in themselves to give off their best in their exams in other to bring positive results on the investments made in them by parents and to also registers a remarkable pass rate improvement against previous years.

She pleaded with them not to wane their responsibilities but rather learn to become responsible citizens in the future since education is important to the socio-economic development of a nation.

The teachers and candidates expressed gratitude to the MP for her kind gesture and her continuous support towards quality education in the Constituency and Municipality as a whole.
