Press Centre for northern sector GJA in Kumasi

Fomena (Ash), Jan 27, GNA - Plans are underway for the construction of a permanent northern sector Press Centre in Kumasi. Mr Samuel Ennin, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), who disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Fomena in the Adansi North district said Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, the Asantehene, was supporting the realisation of the dream. Mr Ennin said some companies in the region have also expressed their willingness to support the project.

The regional GJA chairman enumerated some of the achievements of the association under his leadership, adding that the association was also sourcing funds for capacity building programmes for its members. He said the Ghana Chamber of Mines had donated a computer and accessories to the regional secretariat.

Mr Ennin expressed the hope that at least one media practitioner would be given scholarship to further his or her education this year. The regional chairman advised journalists to be professionally upright at all times, stressing that they should research into their stories before they publish.

"They should stop talking about issues they have no knowledge on them ", Mr Ennin added.
