Prempeh College Old Students call for review of CSSPS

Kumasi, Sept 5, GNA - The Old Students Association of Prempeh college has called on the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports to review the Computerized Schools Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) to take interest of key stakeholders in schools during admissions. In a statement jointly signed by Dr Emmanuel Osei Kuffour, National President and Mr Maxwell K. Addai, National Secretary and issued in Kumasi after a special monthly meeting, the association said there was lack of interest in the activities by old students associations of second-cycle institutions because the CSSPS did not recognize their contributions as stakeholders.

According to the statement, old students and other key stakeholders provided immense contributions in the areas of infrastructure development of schools and there was the need to take their interests into account during admissions.

It called for the reservation of 10 per cent of the total admissions of a particular school to major stakeholders as an incentive package, adding that out of this, five per cent should go to old students association of the particular institution. The statement said this would help rekindle the interest of old students and other major stakeholders to enable them give off their best to their respective schools.
