The Chiefs and people of Gomoa-Pomadze in the Central Region, have initiated a three-year Development Programme under which four face-lift projects estimated to cost 800,000 Ghana Cedis would be implemented.

The projects include; a clinic, a market complex, library and three modern places of convenience.

Gomoaba Nana Apata Kofi V, chief of Gomoa-Pomadze and gunatoahene of the Gomoa Ajumako traditional area, disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency after meeting members of Gomoa Pomadze town development committee at Pomadze.

Gomoaba Nana Apata Kofi said that, the construction of the vital face–lift projects had become necessary in view of the increasing population of the town which was developing very fast.

He said that the planned modern library complex when completed would serve school children in Gomoa-Pomadze, Gomoa-Asebu and Ansaful in their academic pursuits.

According to the Guantoahene, the four development projects would be funded with special contributions from both indigenous and non-indigenous citizens of the town.

He said people aged 25 years and above, both indigenous and non- indigenous citizens would be compelled to pay a yearly special levy of GHC 20.00per male and GHC 10.00, a woman towards the construction of the projects.

The Guantoahene extended a special appeal to all Non-Governmental Organisations, communication networking companies operating in the country, as well as foreign embassies and high commissions in the country to generously contribute towards the realisation of Pomadze people’s initiative.

He said the people would also welcome philanthropists and other well-to-do individuals in the society who were ready to offer any assistance to contribute towards the worthy course.

Gomoaba Nanan Apata Kofi who is also the chairman of the Pomadze Town Planning and projects implementation committee, said the committee was prepared to accept contributions ranging from cash to the various forms of building materials from donors.

He said the committee would use part of the cash and building materials contributions from donors to finish the police station project in the town that the people initiated three years ago.
