Police in the Ashanti Region have listed 8 individuals, suspected to be involved in the murder of 37-year-old New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporter Abubakar Saddiq on Friday November 6, in Asawase.

“Some four guys were at the office when other four were attacked. So these are the eight guys we are looking for and the [NPP] executives are actually cooperating to bring them for questioning. By close of today [Saturday] we would have made headway,” DCOP James Annor, District Commander at the Airport Police in Kumasi disclosed to Joy FM.

Abubakar Saddiq died of multiple stab wounds close to the NPP’s Asawase Constituency office in violent clashes relating to the indefinite suspension of Mr. Paul Afoko by the National Executive Council (NEC) of the NPP.

One of the suspects in the murder crime is believed to be a member of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Reports indicate that the auto spare parts dealer was attacked with machetes by unidentified men on a motor bike and DCOP James Annor is optimistic that the perpetrators of the act will be apprehended.

“We are getting close. What we had to do was to restore law and order and today the executives of the party are coming to support us investigate and unravel the people who actually committed the heinous crime”.

Meanwhile the fiancé of Abubakar is distraught about the incident, which has robbed her of her lover.

In uncontrollable tears Aisha Inusah disclosed to Luv FM’s Prince Appiah that it has been eight years since they started their relationship and plans were far advanced for them to settle in marriage.

She said the last time she saw Abubakar was on Thursday evening and the pair spoke briefly on phone Friday morning. The devastating news reached her on Friday afternoon.
