Police arrest four journalists covering NDC press briefing

Police in Gushegu in the Northern Region on Tuesday morning picked up five media personnel who had gathered to cover a press conference organized by some NDC youth there.

The arrest according to the journalists was because the police say they had not informed the police of their presence at the venue because the police have instructed that the conference should not be held.

The meeting was to protest the nomination of Alhaji Alhassan Fuseini as DCE for the area.

Speaking to Joy News, two of the journalists - a GNA reporter Edmund Gyebi and MultiTV cameraman Samanti Adubakari - say though they were not assaulted, the police attempted taking their equipment from them, but they resisted.

They said they were in the middle of the press briefing when the police swooped on them.

District Chief Executive for Gushegu, Alhaji Alhassan Fuseini, who helped to secure their release tells Joy News he is yet to be briefed by the security on what happened.
