Philanthropist supports Alhzariya SHS

Kumasi, July 9, GNA - Sheik Mohammed Abdulgani, a philanthropist from Quatar, has donated GH¢140,000 towards the completion of the first phase of the Alhzariya Senior High School (SHS), a private school at Old Tafo in Kumasi.

The project includes the construction of classrooms, administrative block, offices, library block, science and a computer laboratory. Sheik Mohammed Kamil Mohammed, Director of the School, told the GNA in an interview in Kumasi on Wednesday that the project, which started four years ago, was funded by the Islamic Bank of Saudi Arabia in Jedda at the cost of GH¢ 240,000.

Sheik Mohammed said the assistance from the philanthropist was in response to an appeal made to him three years ago when he visited the country.

He said the remaining works involving plastering, painting, fixing of tiles and glasses for the windows have been awarded on contract and would be completed within four months. The Director expressed gratitude and appreciation to the donors for the assistance.

Sheik Mohammed said the performance of the school in the West Africa Senior Secondary School Examination in 2007 as encouraging and called for assistance from individuals and organizations to construct its football park to promote sporting activities in the school. 0
