Philanthropist gives to the old

Scores of old men and women have been presented with fowls and an undisclosed amount of cash at Ahwerease-Darmang Community Park, near Nsawam in the Eastern region.

The presentation, an annual ritual, was done by Mr and Mrs Nkansah and children, a philanthropic family, in the early part of January.

The gesture, which is in seventh straight year, marked a series of events organised by the Nkansah family including an eight-team New Year Football Gala won by Noka FC.

In an interview, the philanthropist Mr. Edmund K. Nkansah, who is the Chief Economics Officer at the Ministry of Finance, said he considered the gesture as part of the family’s religious obligations and corporate social responsibility towards the upliftment of the well-being of humanity.

The philanthropic family distributed over 200 fowls to old men and women above 70 years of age in the communities.

In addition, various gift packages were given to their permanent workers and more than 100 youth in the area who serve as casual workers in their agricultural investment.
