Philanthropist donates to three institutions

Akim Oda (E/R), Oct 27, GNA - Mrs Rose Stella Frempong, a philanthropist based in the United States of America, at the weekend donated assorted items worth several thousands of Ghana Cedis to three separate institutions in the Kwaebibirem and Birim South Districts to support their activities. At Akinkanor in the Kwaebibirem District, the area Apostle, Joseph Kingsley Ansah and Elder Gabriel Agyeman, both from the Apostolic Church of Ghana, received for the Church a set of drums, three bails of used clothing, including a quantity of hand bags estimated at GH¢2,800. Dr Kobena Wiredu, Medical Superintendent of the Akim Oda Government Hospital received on behalf of the health institution, 150 physiotherapy items and 25 crutches estimated at hundreds of Ghana Cedis to support health delivery in the Hospital's catchment area. The Erickson International School at Akim Anamase in the Birim South District received assorted books and provisions estimated of several hundreds of Ghana Cedis to help promote teaching and learning in the community. Mrs Frempong also organized refreshment for a cross-section of the Akenkanor Apostolic Church congregation who attended the function and pupils of the Erickson International School at Akim Aamase. All the recipients expressed gratitude to the donor. Making the presentation, Mrs Frempong told the recipients that the donations were her widow's mite towards the development of their respective institutions, adding that for the Church, the instruments would help to propagate the word of God and to draw more souls to Christ. She asked the Hospital staff to discharge their duties diligently to help bring health to the doorsteps of the people. She indicated that the books were meant to encourage the pupils to learn hard to justify the huge investment being made by their parents.
