People of Akim Asuosu lives are in danger

Akim Asuosu (E/R), Aug 22, GNA - Sanitation at Akim Asuosu in the Birim South District, has deteriorated threatening the health of the 4,500 inhabitants following the closure of the only community place of convenience in the community.

Nana Yaw Faaya, Mbrantehene speaking to the GNA during an inspection of four pit latrines initiated by the youth, said as a result the people defecate indiscriminately, which could lead to an outbreak of epidemic. He said the toilet had been closed for more than six months because of shoddy work, which made it impossible to dislodge the waste.

Nana Yaw Faaya appealed to the Assemblyman, Mr Charles Bekoe, to report the situation to the District Assembly for assistance to construct a new toilet.

He said that the problem had led to the youth refusing to take part in communal labour and urged the MP for the area, Mr Yaw Osafo Maafo for help.

Nana Faaya commended the government for the provision of six bole holes the town to end the perennial water shortage, which led to water borne diseases.

He also praised the Presbyterian Primary and Junior Secondary School for planting about 2000 teak trees to serve as windbreak.
