Gomoa Afransi (C/R), Oct 28, GNA - People in the Gomoa West and Gomoa East districts have appealed to the government to rehabilitate the Gomoa Afransi/Gomoa Ankamu road.

They told the GNA in interviews that the bad road was affecting economic and social life of the people in the area who are predominately farmers and fishermen. They said poor nature of the road has forced drivers who plying the road to divert their routes to the disadvantage of the people who travel to Agona Swedru and Gomoa Afransi. Opanyin Kofi Mensah, a farmer at Gomoa Dawurampong, said the few drivers still plying the road overloaded their vehicles due transportation difficulties. Ms Alberta Bruce, Gomoa West District Girl-Child Coordinator, also appealed to the government and district assemblies to take immediate steps to rehabilitate the road. She said teachers who commute from Agona Swedru to Gomoa Dawurampong, Gomoa, Ajumako, Enyemaim, Gomoa Denkyira and other towns got to school late as a result of bad road. Ms Bruce said if the situation continued it would have a negative impact on teaching and learning.
