Pentecost Church donates canoe to Juabeng

Tarkwa, Oct 24, GNA - The Bogoso North branch of the Church of Pentecost has donated a canoe worth 3.5 million cedis to the people of Wassa Juabeng in the Wassa West District.

The canoe was to replace an old one that was dangerous to travel in.

Wassa Juabeng, which has no road, is a farming community on the banks of River Manse, a tributary of River Ankobra.

Apostle Stephen Kwaku Obeng Chemmel, the Chairman of the Tarkwa branch of the church, said the church had built schools and clinics and would do more to improve the living standards of the people. "It is good to praise God and it is equally good to physically share with others who are in need."

Mr Kwame Asante, the Bogoso Area Council Chairman, commended the church and said the canoe was to compliment the effort of the Area Council that has many communities to serve.

Pastor John Otchere, the Minister in charge of Bogoso North District branch of the church, said during one of his pastoral visits to Wassa Juabeng he realized that the old canoe was unsafe.

He said water entered through cracks and while one person was paddling, the other was scooping water from it.

"This prompted the church to raise funds for the purchase of a new canoe."
