A Supreme Court Judge, Justice Akaa Boafo, has underlined the need for pastors to study the 1992 Constitution and diligently apply its relevant provisions in their ministries and daily activities.
This, he said, would help them avoid conflicts with the fundamental laws that govern the nation.
Justice Akaa Boafo, who is a Deacon of Assemblies of God, Ghana, was addressing the maiden edition of the Empowered Ministers Conference of the church in Kumasi.
The event, held at the Light House Assembly of God, brought together about 1,200 pastors, their spouses and leaders from the Ashanti North, Ashanti East and Ashanti West Regions.
Topics treated included: the church and the law; the church and conflict resolution; branding for church growth; the role of travailing prayer in church growth; critical management skills for ministry success; church financial management; the pastor’s marriage and ministry success; and the role of loyalty in organizational development.
The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev Stephen Yenusom Wengam, called on pastors to be professional in the discharge of their duties, adopt best practices and pursue excellence on all fronts.
He also encouraged church leaders to invest in the welfare and socio-economic development of their congregants.
Supporting speakers were Rev Tito Agyei, Assistant General Superintendent; Rev Ernest Birikorang, General Secretary; and Rev Simon Abu Baba, General Treasurer.
