Past B/A student leaders assist schools in region

Techiman (B/A) Aug. 23, GNA - Past executives of Brong Ahafo Regional Students Representative Council have come together to augment the efforts of students representative councils in schools in the region.

They have formed a council with Nana Bediako Poku, a teacher in Sunyani as Chairman. Other executives are Mr Samuel Appau Ahen of Wesley College in Kumasi, organiser and Mr Ernest Tetteh, an official of USAID, advisor.

Nana Poku told the Ghana News Agency at Techiman that the past executive members were determined to help promote education in the region.

He said they had drawn an action plan to sensitise parents to support the education of their children and students to take their studies seriously. The chairman said the council had also been encouraging teachers who do not hail from the region to accept postings to help promote education in the region. Nana Poku urged parents to invest in their children's education to enable them to become responsible leaders and advised students to respect their parents and teachers and to lead decent lives. He appealed to Assembly Members, traditional authorities, unit committees and religious bodies to support and encourage teachers to boost their morale.

The Brong Ahafo Students Representative Council offers scholarships to three brilliant but needy students every year. It donated books to Notre Dame Girls Secondary School at Fiapre and Asuogyaman Secondary Technical School at Aworowa in Techiman municipality.
