Passion for Needy supports the needy at Glife on Eid-Ul-Fitr

Passion for Needy, a local Non-Government Organisation (NGO) formed to support the needy in society has donated food items worth Ghc1,600.00 to the needy at Glife on the day of Eid-Ul-Fitr.

The food items which include bags of corn from their farm at Pra Ewusi, loaves of bread and canned fish, were presented to some identified needy people in the community.

Presenting the items, Mrs. Janet Torgbor El- Aschkar, the Chairperson of Passion for Needy, said that this donation is in-line with the organisation’s commitment to continually support these identified needy families in the Glife community.

She said that the President of the NGO, Senior Prophet T.B. Joshua has always emphasized the need to focus on this kind of support, so after the organization registered these families under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), we saw the need to provide them with some food items to help in their up keep.

Mrs. Aschkar said the organization chose to make the donation on the day of Eid-Ul-Fitr since it is a day meant to show neighbourly love and support.

Receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Emma Gblorvu, the Matron of St. Thomas G4 International School- Glife, thanked the NGO for the kind gesture.

She said the NHIS registration by the NGO has brought a lot of relief to most parents who do not need to struggle before going for treatment whenever they are sick.

Mrs. Gblorvu said the food items came as a surprise, although it was a timely intervention since most of the people are in dying need of such food items.

Since 2011, the NGO has registered 22 adults and 57 children under the NHIS at only Glife, to enable the beneficiaries easily access healthcare in any approved health facility in the country.

Present at the donation were some of the Executives including Mr. & Mrs. Owuani, Mrs. Regina Ofori, Ms. Victoria Adetona, Mr. Emmanuel Atidzon, Ms. Mercy Naadu Lartey and other Members of the NGO.
