Passion for Needy assists Osu Children's Home, two others

Accra, Oct. 22, GNA- Passion for Needy, a Christian charity, on Friday donated 200 bags of rice worth GHC8, 000 to the Osu Children Home, the Accra Rehabilitation Centre and the Ghana Society for the Socially Disadvantaged.

Osu Children's Home received 100 bags of rice while the other organizations also received 50 bags each. Presenting the items, Madam Janet Torbgo El-Aschker, Chairperson, Passion for Needy, said the NGO was set up with the aim of looking after the needy in the society.

She urged the public not to neglect their civic responsible to the inmates of Osu Children because of the alleged misappropriation of donated items and the maltreatment of the children. "I will urge the public not to overlook this place when it comes to donations since this will do nothing but affect the innocent children here", she said.

She praise to the caretakers for 'donating their time' to care for the inmates and urged them not to be discouraged in all instances. She said the membership of the organization cut across and urged people of the various religious and ethnic groupings to join the organization in its quest to assist the needy. She cited donations to the Nsawam Prisons, School for the Blind, the Ashaiman flood victims, Help Age Ghana, the Teshie Orphanage, and some needy students at IPS as some of the activities been undertaken by the NGO.

Mrs Torgbo El-Aschker also cited financial challenges as the main hindrance to the execution of projects of the NGO. She said the organization had been given a 50-acre land at Anomabo in the Central Region and planned to develop the land into a centre for the aged and the physically challenged.

"We also plan to establish a Vocational and Technical Training Centres for the youth in Anomabo.

Mrs Sharon Abbey, Proprietress of Osu Children's Home, on behalf of all the beneficiaries, thanked Passion for Needy for its support to and urged other organization to also come to the aid of the orphanage and not shun it because of the allege misappropriation of donated items in the video footage of Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

She appealed to the NGO to support the organization with a school bus, stationary and also rehabilitate the playing grounds of the orphanage.
