Parts of Adansi North connected to onetouch network

Dompoase (Ash), May 8, GNA - Parts of the Adansi North district including Fomena and Dompoase are now fully enjoying the Ghana Telecom onetouch services.

Mr Benjamin B. Williams, Technical Assistant at the Ghana Telecom Station at Dompoase, announced this when the Member of Parliament (MP) for Fomena, Nana Abu-Bonsra visited the station as part of his tour of projects in his constituency.

The Dompoase telephone exchange was commissioned in August 2003 by President J.A. Kufuor, but the station was just providing landline phone services until the onetouch service was added recently. Mr Williams said at present 69 landline phones were in operation with additional 400 landlines yet to be commissioned. He said those with sensitive cell phones could access the onetouch within a relatively wider area. The Technical Assistant said since the onetouch was installed, patronage had been high, saying, "so far, we are monopolizing the mobile network in the area".

Mr Williams said the station was not encountering any power-cuts since it had back-up batteries and a stand-by generator. Nana Abu-Bonsra who was instrumental in bringing the onetouch service, said the area now feels that it is part of the country. "We are getting our fair share of the national cake, particularly with communication. We now feel that we are part of the nation as compared to the previous times especially during the bye-elections", the MP said.
