Parish condemns Preaching of Utilitarian Religion

Bolgatanga, Nov. 7, GNA - The Rev Fr Gabriel Atidoo, the Parish Priest of the Garu Catholic Church in the Upper East Region, has expressed concern about the preaching of "Utilitarian Religion" on radio.

Rev Fr Atidoo, who was preaching at a church service last Sunday, said the prevailing trend was diverting Christians from the love of God and fellow feeling to the seeking of earthly riches.

He said the seed of God's love was in every Christian and needed to be nurtured instead of placing emphasis on the love for earthly things. "Your car is coming receive it, your promotion is on the way, and a host of other promises should give way to service to the deprived in the society".

He appealed to Christians to emulate the late Mother Theresa, the Saint of Gutters of India and founder of the Sisters of Charity who devoted her life to assisting lepers and the needy of Calcutta because of her love for God and humanity.
