Parents asked to invest more in their children's education

Senya Beraku (C/R), June 12, GNA - The District Chief Executive for Awutu-Senya, Mr Nuhun Adams has appealed to parents to invest in their children's education because if was key to their development. He said education is the only property that if bequeathed to a child, nobody could take from him or her.

Mr Adams said this at an educational forum, organised by the Senya Beraku Youth Association, in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service, under the theme; "Quality Education is the Right Key to proper Development" at Senya Beraku.

It was attended by parents, students and pupils, traditional rulers, assembly members and opinion leaders in the town. The DCE entreated parents to have time for the children at home and discuss their academic work with them.

Mr Adam advised the students and parents that it is only quality education that could lead to success in life, and makes one capable enough to contribute towards the development of the nation. The DCE in this regard urged the students to attach value to their studies to enable them acquire the right skills, knowledge and discipline to help them be self sufficient in life. Mr Adams promised that his office will collaborate with stakeholders in education to address the falling standard of education in the district.

Madam Augustine Addae, Headmistress of Mother Teresa School for Girls, speaking on the topic, "Education of the deprived girl-child and its benefits", called for supports for such girls to enable them attain higher education.

Mrs Christiana Enntsie, Circuit Supervisor in the area, who deputized for the District Director of Education, speaking on the topic, "Parents' contributions in promoting quality education", appealed to parents not to involve their children in child Labour.
