Panpansokrose ends Homowo with launch of three-year project

Panpansokrokese (E/R), Sept. 12, GNA - The chiefs and people of Panpansokrokese near Nsawam in the Akuapem South Municipality in the Eastern Region, has ended their annual Homowo festival with the launch of a GH¢30,000 three-year development plan.

Launching the programme, Barima Ansah Mankata V, Chief of Panpansokrokese and its 63 surrounding communities, said projects envisaged under the plan include construction of school blocks, markets, sinking of portable water and a kindergarten school block to save the children from walking long distances to attend classes.

Barima Mankata called on parents and guardians in the area to endeavour to send their children to school and said education was key to development and also urged them to stop their wards from attending wake-keepings, which eventually lead them to teenage pregnancies.

He appealed to government to assist the people, mostly farmers, with loans to enable them expand their farms and increase yields.

The Chief said it would also help the farmers to look after their families, especially to cater for their children education.

Barima Mankata V further appealed to the Ministry of Roads and Highways for the early completion of the Nsawam-Suhum-Kumasi trunk road project to prevent the reoccurring of accidents.

Nana Asamani Mankata II, Sanaahene and also the Secretary of the town, said the projects would be undertaken through communal labour and self-help contributions of GH¢20.00 per man and GH¢10.00 a woman while non-residents pay GH¢50.00 flat rate each.

The Sanaahene said the elders including Dzaase Obuoku Adjei, Naa Ammakuma, queen mother, Niifio Akuah Mankata also pledged GH¢100.00 each to support the project.

Mr Wilson William Otua, Assemblyman for Panpanso Obregyama Electoral Area commended Barima Ansah Mankata for purchasing a plant which supply electric power to more than 30 communities in the area.
