The Ghana Education Service (GES), in collaboration with the District Education Workers Welfare Club in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region honoured eight (8) has celebrated eight (8) outstanding staff members who are set to retire in 2025.
The ceremony held to acknowledge their years of commitment and invaluable contribution to the development of education in the district highlighted the dedication, professionalism, and sacrifice each honouree has demonstrated throughout their service.
The colourful event that was filled with joy and camaraderie brought together teachers, retirees, administrators, and dignitaries, including the Pru East District Chief Executive, Abdul Nassir Dauda.
In recognition of their many years of dedicated service, each of the retirees was presented with a citation highlighting their achievements, commitment, and contribution to the growth of teaching and learning and an undisclosed cash amount.
Addressing the gathering, the District Director of Education, Sylvester Tabiasi-Naa, expressed profound gratitude to the retirees for their unwavering commitment and selfless service throughout the years.
He described them as pillars who for years nurtured generations, strengthened the district’s education system, and left indelible footprints of excellence.
“We remain profoundly grateful for the many years of dedicated service you have offered this district, a service that has helped shape countless learners and strengthened the foundation of our educational system. I want to assure you that the commitment, passion, and values you have demonstrated will continue to bear fruit long after you step into retirement. Your impact will live on through the students you nurtured and the colleagues you inspired”.
The District Chief Executive, Abdul Nassir Dauda, who himself was part of the retirees, reaffirmed the government’s continued commitment to supporting educational development within the district and praised GES for honouring its dedicated staff.
“I commend the Ghana Education Service for recognising the hard work and dedication of its staff. Honouring these contributions strengthens our collective resolve to build a stronger, more vibrant education system, and I am happy to assure you that the government remains fully committed to advancing educational development across the district”.
Ramseya Ahmed, the Pru East Director of Health, who was the guest speaker, commended the government for the transition of all schools from chalkboards to marker boards, an advancement that has significantly reduced eye-related complications among teachers, especially during retirement.
The chairperson of the Planning Committee, Felicia Kpeli, urged the retirees to make their health and overall well-being a top priority as they transition into this new chapter of life, since retirement, while a time for rest and reflection, also requires intentional choices to maintain physical, emotional, and mental wellness.
