Over 500 youth employed under the NYEP in the Kwabre District.

Dumanafo (Ash), Aug 22, GNA - Over 500 youth in the Kwabre District of Ashanti have been employed under the National Youth Employment Progamme (NYEP). They include teaching assistants, health extension workers, sanitation workers, community policing and youth-in-agriculture. Mr Opoku Agyemang Bonsu, Kwabre District Co-ordinator of the NYEP, said this at the inauguration of a KVIP Aqua Privy Toilet at Dumanafo on Tuesday.

The project was funded through the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Fund. He appealed to the people to initiate more development programmes for the Kwabre District Assembly to support them. Mr Bonsu commended the government for its laudable policies including the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Capitation Grant, School Feeding Programme and Mass Cocoa Spraying Exercise and appealed to the people to support the government.

Mr Kwadwo Oppong, Assemblyman for Dumanafo, thanked the assembly for providing them the facility and appealed to the assembly to rehabilitate the old KVIP.

He said the area is noted for the production of cassava and urged the Assembly to provide them with a gari processing factory. Me Oppong appealed to the assembly to rehabilitate the Local Authority JSS block that was destroyed by rainstorm recently. 22 Aug 07
