Otuopai Mantse calls for unity to promote development

Accra, Oct. 24, GNA - Nii Tetteh Tsuru II, Otuopai Mantse on Saturday appealed to the chiefs and people in the Ga Traditional areas to unite in order to promote development in the Area. He said the various litigations and rancour among the people was retarding progress and development in the communities. Nii Tetteh Tsuru was speaking at a remembrance ceremony in honour of the ancestors of the Otuopai Division

The ceremony, which is in its third year, also marks the end of this year's Homowo Festival of the Chiefs and people of the Otuopai Division.

Nii Tetteh Tsuru called on the people in the Ga Traditional to also make the education of their children a priority. He said investing in their wards education would provide a solid foundation for them in the future.

He said nobody would come from outside to develop the traditional areas for them, unless it is done by the inhabitant themselves. Nii Tetteh Tsuru and Naa Akuyea Shika I, laid a wreath on behalf of all the Chiefs and Queenmothers of the Ga Traditional area. Mrs. Eunice Akweley Roberts, Representative of the Electoral Commission called for tolerance among various political parties in the run-up to the December elections.

She said the political parties must also educate their members on the need to maintain the peace in the country. Mrs. Roberts urged the media to be responsible in their reportage to ensure violence- free elections.

She said the Police must also ensure that there was law and order before and after the elections.
