Otumfuo Twafuohene, Baffour Opoku Agyemang, has underscored the importance of quality education, discipline and global exposure in shaping Ghana’s future leaders.

Addressing students, staff during a royal visit to Executive Senators International School (ESIS), Baffour Opoku Agyemang Otumfuo Twafuohene urged students to take their studies seriously, remain disciplined and respectful and strive to identify and develop their individual talents.

“Every child possesses a unique, God-given talent. Education must enable them to explore these abilities, grow in wisdom, and serve both the nation and the global community,” he stated.

He further encouraged students to embrace creativity, innovation and modern learning approaches, highlighting the growing importance of emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and science.

According to him, education must transcend rote learning to promote critical thinking and innovation.

“Having studied in the United States and other jurisdictions, we are blending international curricula with Ghana’s system to ensure our students can excel wherever they choose to pursue higher education.

"The ultimate aim is to produce global citizens who will return to contribute to national development,” he said.

He also expressed concern about the decline in discipline within schools, stressing that character formation is a collective responsibility involving parents, teachers, traditional authorities and the wider society.

“Education begins at home. Parents, schools, chiefs and the entire community must work together to instill discipline, integrity and strong moral values in our children,” he emphasized.

Touching on the school’s academic framework, Baffour Opoku Agyemang explained that ESIS integrates international curricula with Ghanaian educational standards to adequately prepare students for opportunities both locally and abroad.

Additionally, the Otumfuo Twafuohene appealed to the government to provide increased support for private schools in Ghana, acknowledging their significant contribution to the country’s human capital development.

described ESIS as a centre of academic excellence committed to nurturing young minds to assume leadership roles both nationally and internationally.

He explained that his involvement with the school, founded by Archbishop Dr Kofi Adonteng Boateng, is driven by a shared vision to support children through quality education.

Despite his personal commitments, he noted that he could not decline the invitation to support the institution, emphasizing that education remains the most powerful tool for national development.

Meanwhile, the Public Relations Affairs Director of the Central East Regional Police Command, DSP Victor Dosoo, who represented the Command, appealed to parents and guardians to exercise greater vigilance over their children’s activities, particularly their exposure to social media and digital content.

DSP Dosoo noted that while technology and social media have become integral to modern life, they also pose serious risks to the moral, psychological, and academic development of children if not properly monitored.

He described social media as a “necessary evil” and urged parents to closely monitor the content their children access on mobile phones and other digital devices.

According to him, parents must take deliberate steps to guide their children’s online behaviour and ensure that digital platforms do not distract them from their studies or expose them to harmful content. He stressed that safeguarding children in the digital space is a shared responsibility that begins in the home.

DSP Dosoo cited recent international measures, including reported restrictions in Australia on social media access for children under the age of 16, as evidence of growing global concern about child online safety.

He concluded by urging parents to prioritise supervision, encourage academic focus, and instil discipline and moral values in their children, noting that responsible parenting remains essential to raising law-abiding and responsible citizens.

The event was also graced by Kumasi based comic actor Dr Likee and the late Daddy Lumba manager Roman Father.
