Osino cocoa officers nurse seedlings

Akim Osino (E/R), Jan. 26, GNA - The Osino Cocoa District Office has nursed more than 500,000 cocoa seedlings to be sold to farmers at it's three centres.
The District Cocoa Officer, Mr Henry Antwi, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the office nursed about 285,000 seedlings last year. Mr Antwi said farmers have been educated on the effective treatment of the swollen shoot disease and ways of preventing diseases like black pod and capsid.
Talking to farmers at Akim Asunafo, Mr Antwi urged them to co-operate with field officers to step up production, especially, the diseased-tree cutting exercise and urged them to maintain their farms through regular weeding and spraying. He said the farmers would be given correct re-planting materials for their cut-down cocoa trees and asked them to call on field officers to assist them.
