Omanhene advises parents on Otumfuo's Educational Fund

Nkoranza (B/A), April 18, GNA - Nana Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom IV, President of the Brong Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs and the Omanhene of Nkoranza has urged parents whose wards were benefiting from the Otumfuo's Educational Fund to monitor the movements of the children and ensure that they learn hard to reach higher levels in order that the investment on them would not be a waste.

Nana Agyeman Kudom was speaking to the parents of four students from the area and beneficiaries of the fund at his palace during which period the District Director of Education, Mr. Kwabena Agyemang-Badu also presented cheques valued at 200,000 cedis from the fund to each of the students.

The students included Master Emmanuel Takyi, Roman Catholic JSS, Nkoranza, Master Kennedy Gyamfi, Bodom Local JSS, Miss Agnes Tweneboah, Nkoranza Model Girls' School and Miss Mavis Amoatemaa, Pinihe Local JSS. Nana Agyeman Kudom was full of praises to Otumfuo Osei Tutu for his foresight and support towards the promotion of education in the state. The Omanhene urged the parents to offer the necessary support and encouragement to the children to boost their morale to intensify their efforts to continue with their education and to become responsible citizens to serve the state.

Nana Agyeman Kudom stressed the need for the students to lead morally upright lives and shun away from pre-marital sexual practices, which would have an adverse effect on their education and worst of it all contract the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

With the increasing number of school children and the financial problems facing the individual parents, Nana Agyeman Kudom pleaded with the National Secretariat and Management of the Otumfuo's Educational Fund to consider six students from Nkoranza to benefit from the scheme, saying Nkoranza now contains two constituencies with large population of school children.

Mr. Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, District Director of Education announced that circuit supervisors from his outfit would be detailed to monitor the activities and performances of the beneficiaries and to ensure that they would pursue to the Senior Secondary Schools and not to drop out at the Junior Secondary School level.

Present at the ceremony were Nana Kwabena Ohene Tetteh, Nifahene of Nkoranza, Nana Okofo Agyapong III, Adontehene, Nana Amoa Gyare Baffo, Gyaasehene.
