Okudzeto donates football kits to 28 teams

Football lovers and players in the North Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region breathed a huge sigh of relief when 28 teams in the area were each donated a set of football jerseys and footballs.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the area,Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who did the donation said the gesture forms part of his vision to pay "serious attention to the development of football in the constituency"

Mr Okudzeto disclosed to the teeming number of players and coaches of the various teams that had gathered at the Royal Masito Palace at Mepe to receive the donations that a constituency football league would be instituted and cash prizes and trophies awarded to deserving teams and players.

"Talents would be identified and poached from this constituency league to play in national competitions",he said.


The deputy minister of Education in charge of Tertiary advised the players to take their education serious aside their footballing career to avoid negative consequences in the management of their careers which is the story for most unlettered footballers.

Mr Okudzeto also called on the constituents to come together to fight poverty,ignorance and disease and not encourage needless divisions among themselves.

"As your MP,l have made sure developmental projects are evenly distributed in the constituency without discrimination",he assured

He challenged the youth to believe in themselves and work towards their dreams with commitment,discipline and diligence.

The North Tongu constituency chairman of the National Democratic Congress,Moses Amenudor, added his voice on the need for the constituents to live peacefully among themselves for development to flourish.
