Oguaa high court registered 319 Marriages last year

Cape Coast, Jan. 12, GNA-A total of GHc 4,785 was realized in the registration of 319 marriages in the Cape Coast High Court last year as against GHc2,288 received from 192 marriages in 2010. Mrs Martha Biney, senior registrar of the high court who disclosed this to the GNA on Wednesday said 105 church marriages were issued with certificates within the same period and that 50 marriages were also dissolved.

She underscored the importance of registering marriages with the court, stressing that people who registered their marriages had the advantage to enjoy compensation or awards during a breach of agreement. She said it cost only GHc15.00 to have a marriage registered and a certificate issued and explained that one needed to file an affidavit after which the couple were given forms to fill and examined f'
