The people of Ofankor in the Ga North Municipality marked this year’s Homowo Festival with vibrant celebrations, urging natives, particularly the youth, to embrace good moral conduct.

The festival, a significant cultural event for the Ga people commemorating their ancestors’ triumph over famine, featured a series of activities, including traditional rites led by Nii Kortey Boi II, Chief and Head of the Ofankor Traditional Council.

Clad in red garments, the official colour of Homowo, traditional leaders performed the customary sprinkling of Kpekpele, the traditional meal, at the town and cemetery.

Speaking to the media, Nii Kortey Boi II emphasised the importance of moral living for community development.

“We as a people, especially the youth, must live morally upright lives. We must refrain from infidelity, drug abuse, and other immoral practices that hinder our progress,” he stated.

He further advised, “We cannot achieve our goals in life through wayward living. Instead, we must be serious with our studies, jobs, trades, and businesses. That is what will help us achieve greatness.”
