Obuasi, (ASH), Nov. 23, GNA – Odotobri Rural Bank, has presented a number of items to support the 27th farmers’ Day celebration to be held in Apitikooko in the Obuasi Municipality in the Ashanti Region.

The items worth GH¢ 550.00 included 10 wellington boots, a box of crocodile cutlasses and four knapsack sprayers.

The presentation, which was made on behalf of the bank by Mr Dibert Yennube, Chief Manager and Mr Emmanuel Osei-Owusu, a Board Member, coincided with the launch of the farmers’ day by the Municipal Assembly.

Mr Osei-Owusu said the bank had for many years supported the assembly in organising farmers day and expressed the hope that the items would motivate farmers in the area to grow more food to feed the nation.

Launching the Day, Mr Emmanuel Ntoso, Deputy Municipal Co-ordinating Director expressed appreciation to the farmers and fishermen for sustaining food security in the country.

He commended the sponsors, especially Anglo Gold Ashanti, for making the farmers’ day attractive for years.

Mr Lawrence Kofi Dartey, Municipal Extension officer said the recent adjustment in the price of cocoa coupled with the cocoa disease and pest control programme were efforts of the government to support the growth of agriculture.

Other companies that offered agricultural tools to support the day are Fordia West Africa and Akrofuom Rural Bank.
