Residents of Wiabomah, a community in the Weija-Gbawe constituency will soon heave a sigh of relief as the Parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Obuobia Darko-Opoku fulfills her promise of extending portable water to the community.

In fulfilment of her promise to the people of Wiabomah, Obuobia Darko-Opoku in the early hours of today supplied to the residents 150 PVC pipes to connect water to the community.

Sources close to the aspiring MP said the move will curb the long standing water crisis in the community for over 35 years now.

"Water is life, when you give us water, you have given us life and we will not fail you on November 7" some residents said. "For 35 years in this community we have been drinking bore hole water and it comes with its own health challenges", some the residents said.

In this regard, Obuobia Darko-Opoku has provided the most essential element of life to the people of Wiabomah, a community in the Weija-Gbawe Constituency. It is not surprising the name of Obuobia has spread like wild fire within and even without the Weija-Gbawe constituency.

It is natural for politicians to engage in such ventures in an election year but this humble politician has shown the light that all politicians must learn from, after she lost the contest in 2012, she has never spent a day without touching the life of an individual or group of individuals in the constituency.

Madam Obuobia has facilitated several project and also provided countless interventions including, provision of Street light, digging of bore holes, renovating and building of school block, mosque, donating of poly tanks building of footbridges among others.

An NPP member, who doubles as the Residents Association Committee chairman for Wiabomah, popularly known as Nana, in an interview with an Accra based Muntie FM reveals he met and discussed with madam Obuobia the difficulty residents go through before accessing potable water.

"I promised her that if she (Obuobia) is able to facilitate this water project, myself and other members of the NPP in the constituency will cross carpet to the NDC and vote massively for Obuobia," he said.

He further elaborated how the numerous appeals made to the seating NPP MP Hon. Rosemond Abrah and her predecessor Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botcway by the chiefs and people to get this water crisis resolved had proved futile. He said if Obuobia could do this then no one deserves the seat more than her.

These pipes were delivered to the chiefs and people of Wiabomah and the excitement and joy on the faces of these people says it all..
