Obuasi MP donates dual desks to schools

Obuasi, Dec 7, GNA - The Member of Parliament (MP) for Obuasi, Mr Edward Ennin, has donated 550 pieces of dual desks valued at over GH¢28,000 to 15 public basic schools in the Obuasi municipality. The beneficiary schools include Adaase JHS, Independence JHS 'A' and'B', Kwabenakwa JHS, Kwabrafoso JHS, Mampamhwe JHS, Obuasi Methodist JHS, Pomposo JHS and Sanso JHS.

The rest are Obuasi Saint Thomas JHS, Tutuka JHS, Salvation Army JHS, Bibiem Experimental, Tutuka Methodist Primary and Ntonsua JHS. The MP re-affirmed his commitment to support efforts at raising the standard of education in the municipality.

He had between the year 2006-2008, supplied a total of 900 dual desks to some schools, and he said, "I did this in anticipation of over enrolment in schools because of the introduction of the capitation grant and the school feeding programme".

Mr Ennin has been supporting education development in the municipali= ty in various ways, including construction of a library and computer laborat= ory at Obuasi and a library for Odumasi JHS. The MP said he is determined to provide libraries to as many schools= as possible to help improve performance of the schools. The "free vacation classes" he introduced for JHS learners and SHS 1=

and 2 students, he noted, are yielding positive results. Mr Tom Baidoo, the Headmaster of Tutuka JHS, commended the MP for hi= s foresight which, he said, is helping to address furniture problems facing=

some schools in the area.
