OIC trains over 2000 people nation-wide

Kumasi (Ash), April 27, GNA- Opportunity Industrialization Centre (OIC), a non-governmental organisation (NGO), established in 1964 in Ghana, has trained over 2,000 people in various vocations. The fields of training included office skills, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, music, religious studies among others.

Mr J.W.K. Dapaah, the Volunteer Secretary of the Centre, announced these when he visited the Grace Baptist Church in Kumasi. He said the institute sought to help in developing people's attitude towards work to promote national development. Mr. Dappah said the institute was offering a fee-free training to trainees except that the students were required to pay a token for their examination materials.

He said after the three to 12 months training, students would be given loans to start their own businesses and urged unemployed youth to enrol at the Centre.

Mr Dapaah called on churches, philanthropists and NGOs to support the centre adding that most of the students were from the orphanage. Reverend Dr. Kojo Osei-wusu, the Head Pastor of the Grace Baptist Church, presented one million cedis to the centre and promised the Church's continuous support for the Centre.
