Nyinahin Police arrest three persons for mounting illegal barrier

Nyinahin (Ash), Jan 14, GNA- The Nyinahin police have arrested three persons for allegedly mounting illegal road barrier between Nyinahin and Kyereyaso in Ashanti.

The suspects are Atta Owusu, Kwaku Asiamah and Kingsley Gyasi. The police retrieved a locally manufactured pistol, knife, five stones and a cash of 120,000 cedis from the suspects.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Nyinahin on Tuesday, a police source said the suspects told the police that they were instructed by the chief of Nyinahin, Nana Amanpene Boateng Twum II, to mount the barrier to check illegal timber operations in the area.

The source said the police have requested the chief who was currently not in town to assist them in their investigations. He said the suspects were currently in police custody pending investigations.
