The 2017 batch of Registered Nurse Assistant Clinical (RNAC) and Registered Nurse Assistant Preventive (RNAP) Nurses have threatened to embark on a mammoth demonstration against the Akufo-Addo-led Government despite the ban on social gathering in the wake of Coronavirus pandemic.

Their disappointment follows a statement issued by the Ministry of Health to recruit the 2017 trained Diploma and Degree Nurses and Midwives from accredited public and private health training institutions.

According to the statement, the process of the recruitment begins on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 and the deadline for submission of application is Friday, May 15, 2020.

"Qualified nurses and midwives are to apply on the MoH online application portal by logging in onto https://hr.moh.gov.gh and follow the instructions to select the preferred agency under the ministry for posting", the statement read.

But, in a statement issued and signed by the leadership of RNAC and RNAP 2017 batch, copied to GhanaWeb's Western Regional Correspondent Daniel Kaku, they said they could not continue to suffer at the hands of the Akufo-Addo-led Government.

"...humbly write to inform the general public and all our sympathizers to the persistent deceit we have suffered and continue to suffer at the hands of the current government", they stressed.

They fumed and recalled that, "We can boldly say that after the 2017 group of RNAC/RNAP Nurses were denied trainee allowance during their course of training and after sitting in the house for a year with our skills languishing and our colleagues Diploma Nurses were in the various hospitals across the country doing their mandatory national services with paid not less Gh¢700 and yet after completing their national service financial clearance is granted to them leaving the the 2017 RNAC/RNAP group of Nurses who sat in the house for three years now at the mercy of sun, the then Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party and now President, His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo won the 2016 elections on the back of the promise of immediate employment for the 2017 batch of Nurses and Midwives but has so far failed woefully on that promise".

"We are shock and broken-hearted by the conduct of Ministry of Health as this is the first time Diploma Nurses are being processed for posting without RNAC/RNAP Nurses".

They are, therefore, giving the government a week ultimatum to consider them else they would embark on a massive protest.

"An unanimous decision has been made by members of the aforementioned group has given the Ministry of Health one week ultimatum starting from 7/04/2020 to 14/04/2020 to address our concerns or we will embark on a peaceful demonstration in country especially cities without lockdown after the banned on social gatherings is lifted", they emphasized.

UNEMPLOYED GRADUATE RNAC/RNAP NURSE’S 2017

The Leadership of the aforementioned group humbly write to inform the general public and all our sympathizers to the persistent deceit we have suffered and continue to suffer at the hands of the current government.

We can boldly say that after the 2017 group of RNAC/RNAP Nurses were denied trainee allowance during their course of training and after sitting in the house for a year with our skills languishing and our colleagues Diploma Nurses were in the various hospitals across the country doing their mandatory national services with paid not less Gh¢700 and yet after completing their national service financial clearance is granted to them leaving the the 2017 RNAC/RNAP group of Nurses who sat in the house for three years now at the mercy of sun, the then Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party and now President, His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo won the 2016 elections on the back of the promise of immediate employment for the 2017 batch of Nurses and Midwives but has so far failed woefully on that promise.

Our attention has been drawn to a letter from Ministry of Health indicating that, Nurses and Midwives across the country has been given financial clearance by Ministry of Finance leaving behind Nurse Assistant Clinical (RNAC) and Registered Nurse Assistant Preventive (RNAP) who sat in the house for 3 good years.

We are shock and broken-hearted by the conduct of Ministry of Health as this is the first time Diploma Nurses are being processed for posting without RNAC/RNAP Nurses.

An unanimous decision has been made by members of the aforementioned group has given the Ministry of Health one week ultimatum starting from 7/04/2020 to 14/04/2020 to address our concerns or we will embark on a peaceful demonstration in country especially cities without lockdown after the banned on social gatherings is lifted.

Thank you.
