Ntiamoah Foundation donates to Akwadum D/A School

Ntiamoah Foundation, a non-governmental organization into the promotion of health and education has donated 30 sets of computers and furniture at the cost of GHC 33,000 to Akwadum District Assembly Model Basic School at New Abirem in the Eastern Region.

The foundation in 2006 provided the school and two others schools in the area with the laboratory and furnished it with 30 sets of computers and furniture to aid the teaching and learning of ICT but with time all they got damaged leaving them with almost nothing.

At the inauguration, the Executive Director of Ntiamoah Foundation, Mrs. Mercy Quansah Ansah said the foundation decided to intervene when they realized the unavailability of computers had become a major hinder to the success of teaching and learning of ICT.

She revealed with the support of the founder of the foundation, Mr. R.K.A. Asante and his board of directors funds were made available for this project.

She therefore advised the school to put the computer to proper use; and urged the PTA of the school to, as they promised, regularly maintain them to make them last longer.

The Project Officer of Ntiamoah Foundation, Mr. Shiva Oppong Banahene, said the foundation would need from the school, at the end of every academic term a report on the state of the computers and the laboratory to ascertain how the facility was being managed.

He also advised the teachers not to prevent the children from using the computers since they were purposely brought to them.

The District Director of Education, Mr. Isaac K. Okyere, applauded the foundation for their kind gestures, including supporting financially, the Girl Child Wing of the Education Unit celebrate annually, Menstrual Hygiene Day.

He revealed that through the help of Ntiamoah Foundation, Birim North District among 33 municipalities and districts in the Eastern Region came first in the 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination.

The Head Master of the school, Mr. Daniel Tetteh heaped praises on Ntiamoah Foundation for their benevolence and promised to take good care of the computers.
