Northern Regional Chairman of NPP buried

Tamale, April 20, GNA - Alhaji Abdul-Rahaman Salifu, Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was buried at the Tamale public cemetery on Thursday after Muslim prayers for him in the Central Mosque.

Alhaji Salifu, popularly known as C.O.P. died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra on Tuesday after a short illness. His body was flown to Tamale on Wednesday and deposited in the Tamale Teaching Hospital mortuary. Alhaji Salifu, who was about 70, left behind three wives and 10 children.

Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface, the Regional Coordinating Council and the Northern Regional Executive of the NPP have expressed profound shock at the sudden death of the Party Chairman. They have also sent their condolences to the bereaved family.

Among the mourners were: Sheikh I.C. Quaye, Greater Accra Regional Minister, Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, Minister of Harbours and Railways, Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface, Northern Regional Minister and Mr Peter MacManu, National Chairman of the NPP.
