North Tongu Presiding Member to engage teachers for community schools

Ho, Sept. 28, GNA – The Presiding Member of North Tongu District Assembly, has resolved to employ teachers who would be on his payroll to curb the poor performance of students in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the area.

Apostle Senyo Cudjoe, who is also the Founder of Fountain of Life Chapel International, blamed the abysmal performance on lack of trained teachers in a number of schools.

He told the Ghana News Agency in Ho that a total of 27 schools in the District recorded zero per cent in last year’s BECE.

Apostle Cudjoe said Vume-Kpoviadzi, which recorded four per cent has only one untrained technical teacher, adding that a committee is interviewing four teachers for schools in the area.

Apostle Cudjoe sponsored the best teacher awards in the District in 2007, whilst a number of students in senior high school are on his supporting list.
