No tension at Mbease Nsuta - Chief declares

Tarkwa (W/R), Nov. 12, GNA - Nana Adu Panyin, chief of Mbease-Nsuta, has denied that there is tension at the area saying the town was ready to welcome a mining company, the Golden Star Bogoso/Prestea Limited (GSBPL) to hold forum in respect of its operations in the area. He described those, who are peddling such rumours as "enemies of progress. We confirm that there is no disturbance or threat of disturbance in this area which would affect the peace and security of its people".

Nana Adu Panyin said this at a press briefing at Tarkwa on Wednesday.

A public forum was scheduled to take place on November 11, 2008 at Mbease Nsuta in respect of the proposed mining operations of GSBPL, but it was suspended because of alleged threats to national security. Nana Adu Panyin said both the chiefs and people of Mbease Nsuta and Bondaye communties had been engaged in communal labour to prepare the venue and clean up the whole community for the public hearing, which the paramount chief of Wassa Fiase, Osagyefo Kwamina Enimil VI, was to pay his first visit to the community and act as a special guest at the function.

He said "we the people of Mbease Nsuta welcome the proposed mining operations of GSBPL and are very confident that it would be beneficial to the community, ensure development and contribute to the general well being of its entire people". Nana Adu Panyin gave an assurance that the forum would be organised in a peaceful and orderly manner with the necessary support and assistance of the security agencies deployed in the area.
