‘No Ga Mantse’

The Ga Paramount Stool Dsase of Tunwa We and Abola-Accra, believed to be the kingmakers of the Ga State and custodians of the Ga Royal Paramount Stool, have indicated that no legitimate Ga Mantse has been installed within the Ga State.

It has therefore cautioned all, including the Ga Traditional Council, to desist from deceiving the general public that George Tackie, aka Nii Adama Latse II, is the right heir to the Ga throne.

The Ga Mantse throne became vacant following the death of the disputed claimant, King Tackie Tawiah III, known in private life as Dr. Jo Blankson, in London last year.

Henry Vanderpuiye, acting head, Akropong Division of the Ga Paramount Stool Dsase, who disclosed this at a press conference in Accra yesterday on behalf of the entire Ga Paramount Stool Dsase, stated that the Paramount Stool Dsase was the only legitimate traditional body in the Ga Traditional Area with the customary prerogative to nominate, select and install traditional leaders, and that no other groups or persons were allowed to nominate traditional leaders without the full knowledge and approval of the Ga Paramount Stool Dsase.

“On the 5th of May, 2014 the Ga Traditional Council uncustomarily and unconstitutionally claimed to have endorsed George Tackie. aka Nii Adama Latse II, as Ga Mantse. For the information of all and sundry, the Ga Paramount Stool Dsase, Tunma We, Abola-Accra, who are the kingmakers of the Ga State and custodians of the Ga Royal Paramount Stool and its properties, have not nominated, selected and installed anyone as Ga Mantse,” he said.

“For the information of all and sundry, all the characters claiming to be kingmakers, have no capacity within the Ga Paramount Stool Dsase, Tunma We, Abola-Accra and in the Ga State, as such they are all declared imposters. The alleged kingmakers of Nii Adama Latse II, are Nii Mensah Lartey and Nii Armah Supley Ammah – both of who at one time or the other, had claimed the headship of Nii Tackie Komey Royal Ruling House – are not what they both claim to be,” Mr. Vanderpuiye added.

According to him, the positions of Ga Mantse, Ga Paramount Stool Dsasetse, Ga Seitse, Heads or Acting Heads of the four Royal Ruling Houses of the Ga Paramount Stool Dsase, Ga Paramount Stool Dsase Linguist, Ga Paramount Stool Secretary and Ga Paramount Stool Spokesman, have all been suspended with the exception of the positions of the Divisional Head of the Agyemankese family, namely Nii Agyemankese II, Ga Paramount Stool Dsase Coordinator, among others.

“In this instance, no one should speak in the name of the Ga Paramount Stool Dsase, Tunma We, Abola-Accra, including George Latse II, Emmanuel Nii Yartey Yaoboi

He noted that the “allegation that Nii Agyemankese II has delegated his position and authority to Nii Armah Supley Ammah was false and did not hold water, adding that “Nii Armah Supley Ammah, only represented Nii Agyemankese II on the vetting committee sometime back and same cannot be termed as having transferred his position and authority to him.”

According to him, the Ga Traditional Council had no official mandate to nominate and install anyone as the Ga Mantse as it had reportedly done in the case of George Tackie “without the knowledge, consent and approval of the accredited heads, elders and representatives of the Ga Paramount Stool Dsase, Tunma We, Abola-Accra.”

“The Ga Traditional Council is throwing dust into the eyes of the Ga Paramount Stool Dsase, Tunma W, Abola-Accra, Gamei and the General Public with its uncustomary acts and actions, enacted since the demise and subsequent burial of thelate Ga Mantse, Boni Nii Amugi Soosi II in December, 2004 andJanuary, 2007 respectively,” Mr. Vanderpuiye observed.

Commenting on the way forward to resolve the on-going chieftaincy dispute he said, “All efforts made by Nii Agyemanksese II and his accredited elders with the collaboration of eminent statesmen and women, to get the Nii Yaote Oto-Ga II aka Emmanuel Nii Yartey Tackie Yaoboi/ Nii Adama Latse II, aka George Tackie’s faction to join in fruitful deliberations towards finding amicable solution to the succession dispute have so far failed.”
