Nkosohene pledges to support development projects

Nsawam, Sept. 16, GNA - Nana Toah Kwasi I, a newly installed Nkosohene (development chief) of Ahodwo, a pineapple growing community near Nsawam in the Akuapem South District has pledged to construct a 1.5 million pounds fruit processing factory at Ahodwo.

He said the factory, when completed would serve more than 600 pineapple growers in the area.

Nana Toah Kwasi, who is known in private life as Mr Dennis Cockram former Managing Director of the African Ground Operation (AFGO) made the pledge after he had swore the oath of allegiance to Nana Opare Amankwaah II, chief of Ahodwo.

Nana Amankwaah expressed his appreciation to the new chief for the establishment of the factory, which would encourage the youth and school drop-outs in the area to form groups to cultivate more pineapple farms to feed the factory.

He urged the people to bury their differences and unite with the new chief to bring development to the area, adding, "the world is developing at a very fast pace and it is about time we the people of Ahodwo get on board the development boat."

Nana Amankwaah promised to release more lands for prospective investors for meaningful projects in the area.

Mr Ofosu Appiah, a pineapple consultant, who was present at the occasion congratulated the Nkosohene and called on the inhabitants to assist the chief by providing communal labour to support any development projects in the area.
