Nkoranza to have traffic lights

Nkoranza (B/A) April 16, GNA - Nkoranza South District Assembly is liaising with the Department of Urban Roads to construct traffic lights at accident prone areas in the Nkoranza town to save lives.

Mr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, Nkoranza South District Chief Executive (DCE), told the Ghana News Agency (GNA)that feasibility studies had been conducted on the project, which he said would enhance discipline among road users.

He mentioned points earmarked for the traffic lights as Nkoranza-Ejura-Georgia road junction, Nkoranza New market-Nkoranza-Senior High School-Georgia Road junction and the Nkoranza-Ejura-Nkoranza Kassardjan 91T' junction road. The DCE said the District Assembly would work hard to ensure the execution of the project that would also beautify the town. Mr. Agyekum disclosed that the Assembly had arranged with the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) to construct speed rumps between Breman and Nkoranza SHS on the Nkoranza-Techiman highway, an area prone to accidents.

Motorists have been knocking down people and getting involved in accidents at the area and the rumps will help address the problem, he said.

Meanwhile, the Assembly has awarded on contract the construction of pavement tiles at Nkoranza main lorry station to prevent the people and vehicles being 91clothed' in mud and dust in the rainy and dry seasons.
