Nkoranza North embarks on development projects

Nkoranza (B/A), May 23, GNA - The Nkoranza North District Assembly is spending GHC1,461,137.22 on a number of development projects, to improve the living standards on the people in the area.

The project is being funded by the District Assembly Common Fund and comprises the provision of social amenities, economic facilities, and environmental management and administration assets. Mr Emmanuel Boateng, District Development Planning Officer disclosed this, when he briefed members of the Assembly about their budgetary allocation at a meeting, at Nkoranza. He mentioned the construction of school blocks, places of convenience, support for HIV/AIDS victims, sponsorship for needy but brilliant students, malaria control and the provision of sports and recreational facilities, as the major projects arranged under the social sector. The Assembly is improving upon the electricity power supply system in the communities by supplying low tension poles, street lamps and bulbs to other communities, he said. Mr Boateng said since the people in the district were predominantly farmers the Assembly intends supporting Agriculture to enhance food security.

Under the Environmental Management Sector, Mr Boateng said the Assembly would arrange for effective management of liquid and solid waste in the communities, to prevent the people from contracting communicable diseases. The Assembly would also be constructing the 91Acqua Privacy Public toilets' for the larger communities, to improve on sanitation. Mr Boateng said bungalows and Junior Staff quarters were under construction to accommodate the District Chief Executive (DCE), the District Coordinating Director and some staff of the Assembly. He said the assembly intends organising capacity building workshops for the staff of the assembly and had also purchased a number of office equipment for effective and quality service delivery.
