Nkoranza North Assembly to build ICT Centre and library

Busunya (B/A), June 20, GNA - Nkoranza North District Assembly has proposed to construct an Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Centre and a Library at Busunya, headquarters of the district. The projects would help encourage the youth to read and also to be abreast with global issues.

Mr Kwadwo Agyei-Dwomor, District Chief Executive of the area, told the Ghana News Agency at Busunya that, the Assembly would spend more than one million Ghana Cedis for the two facilities. He said when completed, the facilities would serve as resource centres for schools and decentralized departments in the district. The Assembly will liaise with the District Directorate of Education to arrange for a special time-table that would enable the two Senior High Schools in the district, Yefriman and Busunya, to use facilities, the DCE added.

Mr Agyei-Dwumor expressed concern about the poor results of students of the two schools in the English Language, and advised the students to cultivate a reading habit to improve their performance. He promised to assist in the transportation of students from the various circuits in the district to the ICT centre and the Library and appealed to NGOs and philanthropists to support the schools with computers.

The DCE called on the Ghana Library Board to support the district with books and other educational materials to help boost education in the area.
