Nkenkaasu SHS gets headmasters’ bungalow

Mr. Samuel Sarpong, the Ashanti Regional Minister has inaugurated a GH¢86,000 bungalow built at the Nkankaasu Senior High School (SHS) to house the headmaster.

The two-bedroom building with two halls, a kitchen, bath and washroom, was funded by the Offinso North District Assembly from its share of the District Development Fund (DDF).

Mr Sarpong reiterated government’s determination to provide adequate education infrastructure to promote access and quality.

He said they would do everything to ensure that the right conditions existed for effective teaching and learning.

The Minister, who was in the area as part of a tour to inspect on-going projects and to interact with the people to gauge their development concerns, advised the students and their teachers to be inspired by the government’s huge investment and work hard to raise academic performances.

He told the students to be disciplined and ensure that they avoided bad company.

It must never be lost on them why they are in the school, he said, and reminded them that, there was no shortcut to success.

Mr. Samuel Kojo Appiah-Kubi, the District Chief Executive (DCE), said the assembly, despite its limited finances, would continue to support the school with the needed facilities.

Education is a major priority and therefore it would go the extra mile to aid them to efficiently operate.

Baba Iddrisu Seidu, the Headmaster, hailed the project and said it would help to improve supervision in the school.

He said the SHS with a student population of 677, faced a number of challenges, including the lack of electricity, insufficient classroom space, absence of dormitories, teachers’ accommodation, an administration block, dining hall and a school bus.

Offinso North, which was created in 2008, has only two SHS’s – Akumadan and Nkenkaasu.
