Nine filed to contest Asante Akim North and South seats

Konongo Odumasi (Ash), Oct. 20, GNA - Nine Parliamentary Aspirants have filed their nomination papers to contest the Asante Akim North and South seats as at the close of filing of nomination last Friday. The aspirants, including an independent candidate, filed their papers during the three-day exercise without any hitch. The candidates were Mr Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Thomas Osei-Bonsu, National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Mr. Alexander Osei-Tutu, an independent candidate. Others were Mr Francis Kyei, Reformed Patriotic Democrat (RPD), Mr Anarfi Blacks, People's National Convention (PNC) and Mr Anarfi, Convention People's Party (CPP).

The rest were Mrs Gifty Ohene-Konadu also of the NPP, Mr Degraft Forkuo of the NDC and Mr. Ebenezer Kwao, CPP. After filing their nominations, all the aspirants pledged to embark on a clean campaign devoid of insults and violence to ensure peace in the constituency during and after the elections. Mr Joseph Appiagyei, the District Electoral Officer, who confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency, said the DFP Aspirant Mr Kwaku Opoku Ampratwum whose nomination fee had been paid by his party in Accra failed to turn up to file his nomination.
