Nine farming communities want their roads tarred

Agona Fawomanye (C/R), Jan 29, GNA- The chiefs and people of nine farming communities in the Agona district of the Central Region have appealed to the Ministry of Roads and Transport to tar the Kwanyako-Akotsi and Kwanyako-Buduatta roads.

The assemblyman of the town, Mr Mansfield Atta-Ninsin, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that Suromanya, Kwesitwikrom, Fawomanye, Otwekrom, Asamoakrom and Kwaw Afadziekrom are noted for the production of cassava, maize, yam, tomatoes, beans and other cash crops. But due to the bad nature of the roads farmers in the area find it difficult to cart their produce to marketing centres, thus experiencing post-harvest losses.

The assemblyman stated that in the process of executing the project, the Fawomanye Bridge that was on the verge of collapse would be rehabilitated.

Mr Atta-Ninsin was optimistic that the completion of the project would help ease the ever-increasing economic hardships facing the people.
