New Juaben Municipality outdoors E-Commerce centre

Koforidua, July 23, GNA - Nana Adjei Boateng, New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, on Thursday commissioned an Agricultural Information Centre, equipped with Electronic Commerce (E-Commerce) facility to promote the non-traditional export sector.

The Koforidua-based centre, the second to be established in the Eastern Region after Suhum, was established by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) and the Municipal Assembly in partnership with the International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD) in the Netherlands.

Nana Boateng said the new facility was part of government's effort to modernize agriculture, and create marketing opportunities for farmers to make profit.

He said Government was providing roads to open up farming communities as part of the Ghana Poverty Reduction Strategy. The Project Manager, Mr Edward Addo-Dankwa said the project, which was introduced in the Ga and Techiman districts on pilot basis, has been extended to 13 districts.

Mr Amarkine Amarteifio, Deputy Regional Director of the MOFA, said a number of non- export crop producers were being registered to avail themselves of the services at the centre. 23 July 04
